About Us Learners for Life
The mission of
Nuuanu Elementary
School is to develop
and nurture
the knowledge, skills
and capabilities of all
so that we are able
to use information wisely,
adapt to change,
and pursue
lifelong learning.
MissionThe mission of Aikane `0 Nuuanu (“Friends of Nuuanu”) is to foster a spirit of "ohana" between students, parents, faculty, staff and the community surrounding Nuuanu Elementary School. HistoryFounded in 1975 as a nonprofit organization, we sponsor fundraising events and encourage volunteerism to enhance the quality of education at our school. Our major fundraising activities are a fall fundraiser, and the very popular Family Fun Night held each spring. In addition, we sponsor a twice-yearly Campus Beautification day when parents, staff, students, and Cub Scout Pack 181 and Boy Scout Troop 181 tackle various maintenance and landscaping projects around our campus. To assist the working parents of Nuuanu Elementary School, we also introduced the Early Arrival Program to provide supervised care in the hour before school begins. |
